Our commitment

Anti-Discrimination & Equal Opportunity Policy

Youth Architecture Opportunities is built by students, for students — and everyone is welcome. This policy is a promise about how we treat one another.

Equal opportunity for all

Youth Architecture Opportunities (“YAO”) provides equal access to its programs, activities, volunteer roles, staff positions, and leadership opportunities. We do not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, national origin, ethnicity, ancestry, religion or creed, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, medical condition, socioeconomic status, immigration status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

Where this applies

This policy applies to everyone in the YAO community — students and applicants, volunteers, project managers, instructors, staff, and leadership — and to every part of what we do: admissions and registration, program participation, research and design work, events, recruitment, promotions, and day-to-day conduct in our spaces (online and in person, including our Discord).

A respectful, harassment-free community

We do not tolerate harassment, bullying, hate speech, or retaliation of any kind. Because many of our members are minors, we hold ourselves to a high standard of safety and respect. Everyone is expected to treat others with dignity regardless of their background or beliefs.

Accessibility

We want our programs to be usable by everyone. If you need an accommodation to take part — or if something on this website or in the portal is hard to access — let us know and we will work with you to make it right.

Reporting a concern

If you experience or witness discrimination, harassment, or unfair treatment, please tell us. You can email hello@youtharchitectureopportunities.org or open a ticket in the member portal. Reports are taken seriously, handled as discreetly as possible, and will not result in retaliation against anyone who raises a good-faith concern.

Youth Architecture Opportunities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This policy reflects our values and our commitment to an inclusive environment; it may be updated as the organization grows.
