Terms of Use
The ground rules for using the site, the portal, and our programs.
1. Agreement
By using the Youth Architecture Opportunities website or member portal you agree to these terms. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian should review them with you.
2. Accounts
Portal accounts are created after an application is approved by an admin. You agree to provide accurate information, to use your own account only, and to keep your sign-in method secure. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms, misuse member data, or remain inactive for an extended period.
3. Community conduct
YAO is a space for students. Harassment, discrimination, hate speech, sharing other members' personal information, academic dishonesty (including plagiarism in research programs), and any unsafe behavior at events are prohibited and may result in immediate removal.
4. Volunteer hours and records
Hour logs must reflect real work. Submitting false hours is grounds for account suspension and invalidation of issued certificates. Verified hour reports are issued in good faith; your school decides whether to accept them.
5. Signups, waitlists, and attendance
Event capacity, waitlist order, and cancellation windows are enforced by the portal. Repeated no-shows may pause your ability to register for new events until you speak with a coordinator.
6. Student work and publication
You own the work you create in YAO programs. By submitting research or design work for publication you grant YAO a non-exclusive license to publish it with credit to you. You may request removal of published work at any time.
7. Content and services “as is”
We are a student-run nonprofit and provide the site, programs, and materials as-is, without warranties. Program availability, schedules, and features may change.
8. Third-party services
Programs use third-party tools — Google Workspace, Google Classroom, Google Meet, and Discord. Your use of those tools is governed by their terms. Never share portal credentials or private links outside your assigned spaces.
9. Changes & contact
We may update these terms; continued use after changes means acceptance. Questions: hello@youtharchitectureopportunities.org.
